well, long-time no typey. it seems i've sortof gotten sick of typing down a summary of everything going on in my life in the past month or so. it's been weird. trust me. i'm going to pull a meghan and thrown a run down of everything.
binge birthday weekend. bad decisions on the trampoline. coastal walks with the moose. so fresh and so clean mornings. pilates mixed with mint chocolate chip ice cream. midnight skinny dips under the alaskan sunset. amazing nights and even harder goodbyes. 'your move holy man.' meeting up with my favorite person in the whole wide world. and his mustang. back2collegeshopping. crazy nights that seem sortof overdue. 40yearoldvirgin.boomboom/friendlys with the ladies. 'gay sex' and horrible timing. late night run-ins at friendlys and incogneto capturing. luncheon with horribley hot wings. poprocks and green penis's. italian glass. fancypants coffee. refusing to say goodbye. driving to ohio.
and here i am now. it's time for the baby shower, and my sister is looking like a holy bun in the oven. she looks gorgeous and hasnt gained that much weight, so she was going 'AHA so atleast for ONCE I look better than BRITNEY SPEARS!' i'm holy excited for it. i like her little celebrations, she always seems to set them up very well. i think when i get there i'm going to need to look to her for pointers. she's really great.
the only thing i dont agree with is my dad and his girlfriend sleeping in the loft upstairs above my head. in NO circumstances is it OK for you to BONE right above the head of your DAUGHTER! ahhhhh i had to put a pillow over my head to get the sound out and be able to sleep.
gross.
well anyways....i just hope i survive. |

Wow, so I'm a little out of it. Early morning..
Well the other day I accidently erased everything off my ipod. Don't ask how, it just happened. Luckily I was able to upload all kristen's music onto mine to fill the space and just put mine back on when I get back in NY. This was the start of my weekend not sucking so much. I'll just..sorta highlight.. it..
Anchorage-chilies with the dudes-an interesting look at the mans brain via mens health-Anchorman...-cell-phone/camera idiots- the end of anchorman........- awww poor kristen-lost keys- the best night of sleep in my entire life- scrubbing bubbles- key search- cheapSubwaycustomers -Wedding Crashers- locksmith- human blanket!-
and then we drove home at almost midnight in a horrible horrible Thunderstorm on that damn Glen highway.
We were hydroplaning the entire way. it was scarey as hell. It was raining so hard I was actually screaming to her just to talk to her over the rain.
I'm starting to feel a little more at home now and it's already almost time to leave...
I'll just run it off.....hah |

Feels like my whole body is buzzing. For one reason or another, know what I mean?
As Meghan would say "annnnngst".
I've been feeling pretty lethargic for the past week or so, it's a combination of not sleeping in my own bed, my mom's horendous snoring, the fucked up daylight, and feeling sore from a lot of running/pilates. *whine whine whine* late nights, early mornings.
I've been struggling with my roadtest but finally got it figured out, thank heavens, thanks to Steve. My Dad won't ask any questions. I hope this works out. hah
I have to run again today, I don't know how- then chances are I'll be able to crash in the car on the way into Anchorage just so I can store up enough energy to chillax with Kris-tones' amigos and regain my usual pep in my step.

Kristen and I stayed up pretty late last night after our Kill Bill: Volume 2 fiasco to do my "Pilates for Dummies" dvd at about midnight across her kitchen floor. We liked the feel of it so after my run today I went over to do some "Accelerated Pilates" and some "NYC Ballet" pilates. We always treat ourselves to some nice food afterwards, so it's worth the workout, we usually mute the instructor and turn up some tunes to drown out the voice. "Workout's made easy- MUTE-
Kristen's letting my driver her shit-kicker truck around when we head to places close to home and she doesn't feel like driving, it's a beauty and swings through the curves on Mom's backroads. I had to come back to my house from her's yesterday real quick and she leaned in and handed me the keys saying "go on, take it for a drive by yourself". This might not sound like a lot, but driving that car for the first time by myself, was a little bit exciting. (and you can really open it up on the dirt roads...shhh)
So I'm sitting here wearing my "I <3 NY" shirt and it still hasn't completly set in that I'm not waking up every morning in my own bed, speaking to people that I do daily, eating almost everything I can find in Bridge's house, listening to Andy's pimp music in his grannymobile, taking amazing trips to Friendlys in Steve's White Wonder, letting my dog out a bizillion times a day, giving huge bear hugs, or going to see shitty movies with my amazing friends that always make it seem 100000 + times better.
but you know what, I'm coming home soon, and it's going to be fan-fucking-tastic to see everyone. |

So I'm beginning to get into my running grove. It's nice when running long distances is suddenly a lot less boring than you remember it. It's beginning to grow on me. It's beginning to seem like less of a chore and more of a habit, which is saying a lot for distance running. I'm determined to do well this year...I don't have another year left for XC. I have to do it now.
kristen and I played shakin' kitty syndrome. poor thing never saw it comin'
heh, Some people I feel like I never left at all, I talk to them so frequently, while other, I almost forget how their voice sounds, isn't that horrible? Giving me that sad-homesickness again..Then I remember that this might be my last year up here, and it makes me want to just bring everyone up here to enjoy it with me. My mom is being offered a job for next summer if she wants it, so I might just make it back up here yet.
So, I get back on the 10th. I'll have a few days to unpack some, launder and catch up with everyone before I leave for my sister's babyshower in Ohio for a few days. It's hard to believe I'll be an aunt. It feels like she just left for college. |

After a very very hectic weekend, I have to say I'm very happy to be sitting in my own little house with the breeze blowing on me and seeing that nice Alaskan sunset go down (slowly) out the window.
I awoke the other morning to the smell of smoke. One would immediatly panic and assume fire right? Well there was a fire, a few hours north at Port Mckenzie and at the base of Kenaii after some lightening struck some dead trees and wood chips. Forest Fires in Alaska are common, but still pretty scarey. There was an insane haze over the county and a health alert was given for 'anyone doing strenuous activity, older, or younger, to stay indoors and close the windows until further notice'. Most of it had cleared by the next morning, and I was able to leave my house and run a bit.
Yesterday Kristen and I headed into town. Somewhere along the line we ended up in a piercing parlor to look at my impending navel piercing, but somehow managed to have Tyler, Kris' guy, get his 'conch' pierced, that weird spot at the base of your inner ear. ouch. Looking surprisingly good, he only left with some minor pain. Later that night I gauged my ears to a size 4, which is about the thickness of a pencil. I hadn't intended on ever doing it, but I have to say, without sounding like too much of a dork, it came out good and I'm happy with how it looks on me. It doesn't look like a huge hole in my ear, just a cute little one. It was a little painful in the beginning and it took a while for me to push through the taper, (that's this round shaft that gradually tapers from a smaller to larger gauge that you start your gauging with). ouch. I have a picture of it, if you'd like to see what it looks like. I wonder how long I'll keep them in.
We went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that night, which I have to say was very very good, though a little warped. I was very entertained, it was pretty packed, even though it was a late showing. The rest of the night, well, we tried our best to stay out of trouble.
Kris and I ended up with a flat tire on the way home from Anchorage. We managed to pull into a parking lot after we realized it. For our first tire change, we didn't do so bad at all, it seemed like cars driving out of the parking lot went out of their way to go all the way around and look at us, but not a single car stopped to help. We didn't much mind, we had it under control after it set in that we had just got a flat tire on a major busy road and could've gotten into a big car accident. With the real big problem already avoided, we rolled down the windows and kept some music going as we steadily worked on the jack and tire. We can hold our own.... =P
you wouldn't know it by my smile. |

I remember wanting my tongue pierced when I was younger and discussing with Han how on graduation day we were going to go get it done together. Funny how quickly that idea left our heads. I think I might get my belly button pierced before I come home, we'll see.
Yesterday I went up to Hatcher Pass to look at the view, I've gone up there when I was younger, but only vaguely remember it. Being that this will be my last year up here, I wanted to take in all I could.
The road leading us up to the top is a interesting one. Dirt complete with it's HUGE pot-holes and large rocks throwing our bmw back and forth on the road. Looking down the cliff to see a car so far at the bottom of the mountain made me a little nervous that the edge was only a foot away from my window. I noticed myself gripping the 'oh shit' bar and tightening my seat belt every time a camper would pass clearly squeezing past our vehicle.
Stopping every so often to take pictures, we finally reached the top which was a breath-taking view from the top in which you could see the small winding dirt road that we drove up on. I waded into the crystal blue lake at the top turn-about until my legs almost went numb and I realized most of the water in it was actually from a Glacier. Traveling down the otherside of the mountain I passed large areas covered in snow with names marked into them saying things like "Brian loves Brenda" or "Mark wuz here". There was a significant temp change as I neared the bottom of the mountain, it will be one part of Alaska that I wont forget.
I went on a long long run today. One of those runs where you forget where exactly you're headed, you just go. Jogging down the dirt and rock roads, winding in and out behind trees, I sortof just thought about anything and everything, and took in the atmosphere. The breeze that blew my hair, the trees surrounding me, and the different shapes that the sun made on the ground that I ran on.
Though it was nice to come home and take a nice long shower. I'm feeling awfully energetic, I think I might bike up to the office and ride the jetski a bit with kris, then just lay around in the sun.
I can't get enough. |

So usually when my mom and I travel into the city, it's a pretty big deal. We woke up nice and early made our stops (work, post office and then to the local coffee shop) and off we went. This long trek around the mountains is a pretty sight to see as it comes to be mid-afternoon.
I wasn't expecting to actaully shop for myself, more just get little souvineirs for everyone else. This might just be a girl thing (ladies you can agree or disagree with me), but by the end of the day I had found so many pairs of jeans, bras, and underwear that were so comfortable and fit perfectly that I was the happiest girl around. That can turn anyones mood into just pure bliss, considering I really wasn't even looking.
Mom and I went to the Mongolian BBQ soon after our little shopping escapade to reward ourselves which is pretty much a chinese food restuarant where you go through a line and pick out what kind of meat and veggies you'd like in your stir-fry, they have a custom made wok so it cooks JUST your plate. You keep going down the line and you can grab any of the sweer & sour chicken, fried popovers, eggrolls, and even fried bananas (along with all the regular lo meins) I even grabbed some Sushi. The place even had ice-cream.
Oh and as we left, we saw someone getting arrested, as we tried to wiggle our way out of the parking lot (I stared out the window indecently) the Fire Department showed up and they stepped out putting on gloves..."uhoh buddy you're screwed."
I think Kris and I have some trouble to get ourselves into... |

I've realized since I've been up here how similar my mom and I are. She's very random but not all that motivated, so I must get that from my dad.
I was going to go running the other morning and she was cooking, she says to me "Becky do you HAVE to go? I mean do you HAVE to? I just made food... can't you just eat...."
baddddd influence. I have to say though that she makes the most delicious food around and when it's needed. I ran up to her work the other day and was dead-tired and as we're driving home she decided to stop in and get ice-cream. She know's what to do.
At the same time, I'm terribly missing home. My dad's a little more motivational when it comes to my crazy running schedule "you'll feel so much better and more accomplished when you're done...." yeah thanks, I'll stick with the ice-cream.
anyways, I ought to go run somemore... My mom says there's cake at the office. hah

Happy post-4th of July. I'm still exhausted, aren't you? I guess I was wrong about the lack of fire-works up here.
Well shopping in Anchorage was a bust. It was more fun to try on clothes that we knew right away we weren't going to buy. I was in Gap and they had clocks on the wall that gave the time-zone of Alaska, and New York. Made me sortof miss home. (I love hearing your voice.) We ended up spending the night at Kris' boyfriends after we underestimated the time it takes to see Batman Begins and got some Taco Bell.
We were lucky enough to meet up with one of Kris' friends and kick around with her in Wasilla watching the drunk hicks set off fire-works and sparklers. Which are actually illegal here.....
I think the best part was going to Kanik River where there is leftover Volcanic Glacier silt. We played around in that until we were covered, and I mean covered in mud. It was the kind of mud that they gave to spa's for mud-baths, so it was really more like clay. It was insanely fun.... and very messy. I took the longest shower.
So yesterday was the real 4th of July and I was pretty dead. I came home, took a nap, and went for a 5 mile run. I thought that was the end of my night but after dinner I went to Kris' AGAIN and we watched the Grudge and American History X. Great movies... well the Grudge was sorta doofy, but by the time we watched it, it was like 2 in the morning so it was actually starting to get darker out. Kristen kept scaring the shit out of me as she did that creepy noise and walked towards me.. I'll get her back..
and now that the holiday weekend is over maybe I can actually spend time with my MOM. geez. since that's the reason I'm UP here.
Alright, now time for a run :::::::::groans::::::::: and then maybe into town a little bit with the madre
hankerspank44: so then i guess youve done it all hankerspank44: not much more to do than come back home hankerspank44: right now
thanks Hank,
I'll be back before you know it. <3 |

Gah, I'm in Alaska. Breath it in. It's still quite hard for me to grasp. I adjusted to the time-change like nothing and am already loving the extreme weather-difference. I wake up and my mom has already signed me online going "oooh who's this person? talk to them, aww you're friends miss you...." Unfortunatly by the time I wake up, it's already about 1 'oclock back their time.
Kris and I plan to head out to Anchorage to do some serious shopping and probably meet up with her boy and see a movie. Oh how I love being that third wheel, haha. As long as the movie is good right? Well, the last movie I saw was bloody horrible, it was just good people. Maybe I'll just get some good candy...
Well up here there's a local party going around called "WillowFest" for the 4th of July weekend. Should make for an exciting time, even though fire-works are illegal up here, too many recent forestfires. Maybe we can smuggle some without getting into too much trouble.
Please, remember to dial 1-(315)-439-4646, it's always nice to hear a voicemail from back home.
you know I love you. |

So I think that I've had the best last day here. I think I was able to see everyone and do everything that I wanted on my last day. I woke up weary eyed this morning to find out that Steve left me a present in the mailbox (awww thanks Steve). As I load the CD into my Ipod I'm trying to think of everything that I might have left out of my suitcase. This time tomorrow, I will be waking up in Alaska. flippin' sweet.
I'll have my cell phone armed, please feel free to leave me a voicemail or if you'd like to write me....

Well I'm feeling quite angsty and I'm already sick of my house. At-least, a house thats empty. I've done most of my laundering and part of the folding and I'm just anticipating the packing.
Sometimes I can't wait to go up there, while other times I'm dreading the changing world back in New York without me. It's going to be strange for a while. Not being able to hang out with those that I usually do, call people that I usually do, just to be close to them. (10,000 miles is a long way away).
It's hard to make sense of it.
I'm very excited to take the trip, I'll have some lay-overs at the airport, so expect a call from me while I wait. When I look out the plane window it's so much different than it is at home, I can see bright, lush, green trees below me and mountains and terrain. In the airport there are Grizzly Bears in display cases and native things on display. My Mom and all my friends up there... the Midnight Sun.
What a trip, many of the seniors are leaving or in some cases already gone. Yesterday was spent balling at graduation and taking pictures with some of the greatest. I developed my other camera and I'm sitting here looking at all these pictures that I got back, some were taken from a long while ago, it makes me miss home so much and I haven't even left yet. If you read this, leave me your address in the comments. I'll post-card you.
and another thing, we seriously need to plan out a set of rules for strip scrabble...
Oh Babe, I hate to go. |
